Journey Through The Bible Hero

Exodus 38:1 – 38:31, Matthew 28:1-20, Psalm 34:11-22, Proverbs 9:9-10

“Then the angel spoke to the women. ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said, ‘I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He has been raised from the dead, just as He said would happen.’” (Matthew 28:5-6a)

Yesterday we talked about overcoming fear. One of foundational principles for overcoming fear is believing in the resurrection of Jesus Christ – believing that He is alive and present and concerned about the needs, provision and protection for our lives.

Question – “Do you really believe that Jesus conquered death and rose from the grave?” The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most well-attested fact in all of human history. We have more information about the resurrection of Jesus Christ than we do that George Washington served as this country’s first president. The Bible teaches that following Jesus’ resurrection, He was seen by numerous witnesses, beginning with those who came to visit His tomb, including His disciples who saw Him alive several times, and concluding with 500 witnesses seeing Him on a mountaintop.

The numerous witnesses to Jesus’ resurrection prove to be a strong indicator that Jesus rose from the grave. Then there was the change that occurred in the disciples themselves. Prior to the resurrection of Jesus, they were a discouraged, dispirited and defeated group. All of a sudden, however, they were miraculously changed. Cowardly Peter (Matthew 26:69-75) became courageous Peter (Acts 2:14-41), and the other disciples experienced similar transformations. What could have led to their miraculous transformations and willingness to confront death and persecution? Only their newfound belief that Jesus was indeed alive, and that He would continue to live as the almighty Son of God.

The greatest testimony to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, however, is the incredible number of individuals whose lives have been transformed by Him throughout the centuries. Even today the risen Christ is changing and transforming lives as people surrender their hearts and lives to Him.

Question – “How has Jesus demonstrated to you that He is alive today?” I can tell you from the Scriptures and from experience that when the risen and living Lord enters your life, you will experience supernatural transformation in your life. You will experience His presence, which will lead to peace, power, and purpose for your life.

As you pray today: 1) Pray that the living Lord Jesus will become more real to you than ever before; 2) Pray that you will be able to share His resurrection presence and power with others as readily and boldly as the first disciples did; and 3) Pray that all fear in your life will be conquered because you know that the Lord is alive and present with you.
