WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO PRAISE THE LORD FOR?

“I will praise You, my God and King, and bless Your name forever and ever. I will bless You every day, and I will praise Your name forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! His greatness is beyond discovery! Let each generation tell its children of Your mighty acts. I will meditate on Your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim Your greatness. Everyone will share the story of Your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy of Your righteousness.”(Psalm 145:1-7 NLT)

Think for a moment of who God is to you and what the Lord has done for you, and ask yourself, “What do I have to praise the Lord for?” You can certainly praise the Lord for life itself, and for that which He provides that sustains your life. Perhaps you can praise the Lord for the provision He is given you throughout your life, and the people He has utilized to provide that provision for you. Perhaps you can praise the Lord for His protection – thinking of times and ways when the Lord has rescued you from death, disease, hurt or other harmful things.

If Jesus is your Lord and Savior, you can thank the Lord for the transformation He has brought to your life. The Bible teaches in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if “Anyone is in Christ they become new creations; old things pass away and everything becomes new” – and if you haven’t experienced such a transformation, you need to go back and check the legitimacy of your new birth experience.

There are innumerable things and relationships that we have to thank the Lord for. We used to sing a hymn that had a verse and refrain that included the following words: “When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed. When you are discouraged thinking all is lost. Count your many blessings name them one by one. And it will surprise what the Lord has done. Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your blessings, see what God has done. Count your many blessings. Name them one by one. Count your many blessings, see what God has done.” Stop and reflect on what the Lord has done for you. David the Psalmist said in Psalm 145: “Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.” We need to do the same!

So, my question to you today is . . . “What do you have to praise the Lord for?”
