GIVING AWAY “LIVING WATER” WHILE BUYING WATER

After a night of rest, Vicki and I went to “Walmart” here in Santo Domingo. Our primary purpose was to buy bottled water for the next several days. While waiting in the check-out line, a conversation was begun with the lady in front of us. Her name was Anna. She shared that she had recently lost her job and was really struggling. She was told that I was a pastor, and that we would help her purchase her groceries. She then informed us that “she loves to hear the gospel,” but had never become a Christian. We asked Anna to take a few minutes to talk with us after we were done with our grocery purchases.

We told Anna her how much the Lord loves her, and about how He is able to change her life and circumstances. We asked her if she wanted to surrender her life to Jesus and become a Christian, she said “Oh yes.” So right there in the grocery store, with people staring at us, we led this physically and spiritually hungry lady to faith in Jesus. When she finished praying with us to receive Christ, it was evident that she had sensed the presence and power of the Lord coming into her life.

As we left the store, I was reminded of when Jesus met the woman at the well in Cana (John 4). Jesus said to the woman: "People soon become thirsty again after drinking this water. But the water I give them takes away thirst altogether. It becomes a perpetual spring within them, giving them eternal life." This woman who had been a great sinner was converted, and became an immediate witness and evangelist for the Lord.

I don’t know what’s ahead for Anna, but one thing I do know is that she now has “eternal life” because she was willing to drink of the “living water”, Jesus Christ.

When have you recently had the opportunity to offer someone “living water”? Please tell me about it. . .

After attending church service Sunday morning at Celebration Church's Metairie campus, I went to a "Bike Blessing" in St. Bernard Parish with the Christian Motorcyclists Association . The sermon you had preached involved praying for the Holy Spirit to fill us and that we would receive power and we prayed for more power from God before heading out for the ministry. The very first person I had the privilege of praying with was a very pleasant and well to do young lady. We asked her if she knew where she would go if her life ended that day and she replied, "I think I'd go to heaven. I'm a pretty good person." We then explained that while many of us are pretty nice, we all fall short when it comes to being worthy of eternal life. After we prayed for her to become a child of God by surrendering her life to Jesus Christ, she was glowing and so very appreciative. It is always so awesome to see God touching people and their response to His power.

I'm so glad to hear about divine encounters. I'll be more careful to look for opportunity at Wal-mart and wherever I go today. Praying that you, Vicki and the team will continue to have a GREAT trip --full of miracles and blessings for you and the people you minister too. Last night, Manley introduced the team that will be joining you! How exciting. Can't wait to hear all the report when everyone returns.
