DO YOU BELIEVE IN DIVINE APPOINTMENTS?

From time to time you may hear people say they’ve experienced a “divine appointment.” What they mean is that they’ve met someone in a providential way, and that meeting has resulted in something great happening.

Almost all of us have experienced “divine appointments” in our lives. Some people have had chance encounters with others that have resulted in successful business partnerships. Others have been in the right place at the right time where they received a revelatory word that has transformed their perspective and/or their life. And then there is the greatest “divine appointment” of all – when we encounter Jesus Christ. When we have that “divine appointment", Jesus comes into our life, He forgives our sins, begins freeing us from our struggles and strongholds, starts bringing godly fulfillment to our life, and He guarantees us the future of heaven. Now that is the “divine appointment” of “divine appointments.”

Today I had a “divine appointments” while waiting to get on a plane to the Dominican Republic. I’ve been praying for some time for the Lord to connect our church to a “community transformation ministry” in Haiti whose goal was to facilitate spiritual, economic, educational, governmental and health reform to an entire region.  I met a minister this morning that I’ve only seen briefly since Hurricane Katrina. He told me that he now oversees a ministry in Haiti in one of the suburbs of Port-Au-Prince, where they are conducting exactly the type of ministry that the Lord had impressed upon my heart. As he shared what the Lord was doing in that Haitian community, I knew instantaneously that the Lord was answering my prayers, and that this was indeed a “divine appointment.” I am excited about reconnecting with my friend when I return from the mission field and strategizing with him and our pastors about partnering with the Lord to transform that region in Haiti.

We should thank God for the “divine appointments” we’ve experienced and look forward to the “divine appointments” that the Lord has for us today and in the future.

I invite you to share with me a "divine appointment" that you have experienced lately. . . .
