“Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for He is our God. . . . Sing to the Lord; bless His name. Each day proclaim the good news that He saves. Publish His glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things He does. . . .” (Psalm 95:6-7, 96:2-3).
The above verses were a part of my devotional Bible reading this morning. Every morning I get up early to read the newspaper (so I can see who and what in our region and world I need to be praying for), and then I read my Bible and spend time in prayer. During my Bible reading I usually read portions of Scripture from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs (I’ve followed the One Year Daily Bible Reading Plan for years). I then meditate on one or more particular passages from my reading, seeking to determine what the Lord is saying to me through those passages, which then sets the stage for my prayer time.
Today the words from Psalm 96:2-3 really challenged me, where the Psalmist writes, “Every day proclaim the good news that the Lord saves. Publish His glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things He does.” I then began to reflect on the “amazing things” that the Lord has done in recent weeks that I’ve witnessed or heard about. Here are some of those “amazing things.”
In recent weeks the Lord has:
- Transformed several new families to our church as a result of their teens becoming actively involved in our Youth ministry and falling in love with the Lord
- Created some wonderful new and godly friendships through our Celebration Life Groups for people who needed and desired such relationships
- Restored several people back to ministries they had lost because of a struggles in their lives
- Reconciled several marriages that were seemingly irrevocably broken
- Provided unexpected funds and resources to several families that were going through hardship
- Provided new and better jobs to some of the people that we’ve been praying for
- Provided the funds for the Celebration congregation to give out 500 tickets to the movie “Courageous” to local police officers and fire fighters
- Answered prayers for a runaway teen, bringing that teen back safely to their family
- Delivered some men from some lifelong struggles and strongholds as they participated in our Men’s “I Want Victory” retreat
- Helped several hundred people in our Celebrate Recovery ministry have victory over their addictions for a period of time
- Healed a number of people of critical illnesses or injuries and also emotional hurts
- Gotten people through some incredible tragedies and brought healing to their hearts/lives
- Helped several thousand people get their focus off of themselves and begin focusing on finding and fulfilling God’s great purposes and plans for their lives
- Protected, provided for and greatly utilized hundreds of missionaries that are supported by the Celebration congregation
- Answered innumerable prayers that have been “lifted up to God” by our people
- Led 437 people to make “life change decisions” (experience salvation, apply for membership) in our Celebration worship services
Quite honestly, I could go on and on about the “amazing things” that the Lord has done in my life, in the lives of others I know, and in and through our church family.
What I would like to know is: WHAT ARE SOME OF THE “AMAZING THINGS” THAT THE LORD HAS BEEN DOING IN YOUR LIFE, OR IN THE LIFE OF SOMEONE YOU KNOW? Please let me know so that I can rejoice with you in the mighty and miraculous works that God is doing in, for and through the lives of His people. Let’s all “publish His glorious deeds, and tell everyone about the amazing things He does!”
